One of the greatest compliments I can receive as a South Florida Family Reunion Photographer is being invited back to photograph the same family as the years unfold.

I first met this wonderful couple on one of the most important days of their lives—their wedding day. Like every newly married couple, they were excited about the future and all the adventures that lay ahead. At the time, none of us could have imagined that our paths would continue to cross for years to come.

Since that wedding, I’ve had the privilege of documenting many chapters of their family’s story. I’ve photographed family portrait sessions, gathered everyone together to create portraits with the bride and groom’s parents and grandparents, and watched the family grow with each passing year.

Today, I find myself photographing the next generation—their children.

Watching those two little boys laugh, play, and interact with their parents is a reminder that photography is about so much more than creating beautiful images. It’s about preserving a family’s history as one generation becomes the next.

I first photographed this wonderful couple on their wedding day many years ago. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of documenting their growing family through the years. Watching their children grow has been one of the greatest rewards of my career.

During this South Florida family session, we created a complete collection of portraits, including the entire family together, the parents, the brothers, and a variety of candid moments.

Then the boys picked up their baseball gloves.

Suddenly, the session became about much more than posing for pictures.

Instead of asking them to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera, we photographed something they genuinely love to do. Their expressions became natural, their confidence grew, and their personalities immediately came to life.

Those are often the photographs families treasure most.

Years from now, these portraits won’t simply remind their parents of what their sons looked like. They’ll remember the stage of life when baseball was everything, when afternoons were spent playing catch, and when childhood seemed like it would last forever.

One of the things I encourage families to do during every portrait session is to bring something meaningful. Whether it’s a baseball glove, a ballet outfit, a surfboard, a musical instrument, or even the family dog, these personal touches transform a beautiful portrait into a story.

Creating that story also requires beautiful light.

Throughout my career, I’ve paid careful attention to lighting because I believe it is one of the foundations of timeless photography. Children are constantly moving, laughing, and changing expressions. My job is to create an environment where those moments unfold naturally while using soft, flattering light that allows every family member to look their very best.

Having photographed thousands of weddings, family reunions, and family portrait sessions throughout Boca Raton, Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Delray Beach, and across South Florida, I’ve learned that every child has a different personality. Some are outgoing, some are shy, and some would much rather throw a baseball than pose for a photograph.

Rather than trying to change who they are, I work with their personalities.

A Full-Circle Moment: From Their Wedding Day to Baby Skyler’s Arrival

One of the greatest privileges of my career is having the opportunity to photograph the same families through life’s most meaningful milestones.

Years ago, I had the honor of photographing Skyler’s parents on their wedding day. Like so many newly married couples, they looked forward to building a life together and one day starting a family of their own.

Over the years, our relationship continued, and then came one of the most exciting phone calls a photographer can receive.

They were expecting a baby.

Their path to parenthood hadn’t been easy. It was a journey filled with hope, perseverance, and the incredible advances of modern medicine. Through IVF, the dream they had shared on their wedding day was finally becoming a reality.

When it came time for Skyler’s newborn portrait session, her mother had a deeply personal idea.

She wanted to create a photograph that honored the journey that brought their daughter into the world.

The syringes surrounding baby Skyler are not there for shock value. They tell a story.

They represent courage.

Some dogs are energetic, some are shy, and some simply want to run around and play. My goal is to make the experience enjoyable while capturing their personality naturally.
