Groom kissing bride at the Delray Beach Marriott

This photo taken at the Delray Beach Marriott was taken after the ballroom ceremony finished. During the cocktail hour I scouted around outside the hotel looking for photographic opportunities.  Since the wedding ceremony took place indoors I had no idea how much good useable light was left outdoors.  Since Delray beach is located on the east coast of Florida, looking out over the ocean you would be facing east. Between the shadow of the hotel and the sun setting in the opposite coast chances were good that it would be really dark.

Once I saw that we still had good light I ran back inside the hotel and politely asked the bride and groom to come out for only a few minutes.  I promised that I would only take them out for about 15-20 minutes which would still give them plenty of time to enjoy the cocktail hour.

I shot this with a Nikon D810 and a 20-70 2.8 lens.   The wide opening of the 2.8 lens allowed for plenty of light to enter the camera's sensor and also gave me the option of using a fast shutter speed.  Since it was getting dark outside I decided to use a bit of fill flash as well.  The flash I used was the Nikon SB910. I set the flash at -2 stops which gave me some extra light and not too much light.  I prefer when I use a flash to set the flash so that it does it's job yet still looks like a natural light picture.
