Working in Boca Raton as wedding photographer I have shot many weddings at the Club at Boca Pointe. One of the more popular features of the venue's property is the wooden gazebo which is located in the front of the club house. This photo was shot using a camera which has been modified to produce infrared. While processing this photo I added a split tone filter. If you are not familiar with split toning it's a process where the highlights and midrange tones are separated from the shadows. Then the mid range and highlight areas are turned brown and the shadows are turned slight blue. This creates a sepia looking photo but with more pop.
Because the gazebo is sitting prominently in the front area of the clubhouse it's often featured in many Boca Pointe Club wedding photos. When I took this photo I really wanted it to stand out. If you shoot an item against a busy background the item tends to get lost with the background. This means that as a wedding photographer, you are left with only a few options to make sure the item, in this case the gazebo stands out. One choice it to use a wide F-stop which will create shallow depth of field which you can use to throw everything else out of focus. The face that I wanted to keep the bride and groom sharp in the foreground eliminated this option. My decision was to place the bride and groom at the bottom of the hill and shot up at the gazebo placing it against the sky, this was the background was not competing agains the structure. Since the main subject was actually the bride and groom I did not mind the gazebo going out of focus.
I'm not really big on shooting tilted images, otherwise known as dutch angles, However, I really wanted the frame to be filled with both the bride and groom and the gazebo. To achieve this I felt that shoot at a dutch angle would work best.

One big factor some people need to consider is if there is enough room in the ballroom to include a band. I can tell you I have photographed several events with bands at this venue. In addition the Main Clubhouse also has several additional ballrooms with are perfect for your cocktail hour, and ceremony. If you envision a wedding ceremony indoors or an outdoor tented wedding The Club at Boca Pointe can accommodate your needs. I have photographed many small intimate weddings as well as many large lavish high end luxury events here as well. Their ballrooms are elegantly decorated and the catering staff are experts when it comes to planning the perfect wedding or event.
I have been photographing wedding in the Boca Raton area for over 15 years. While it's true that many couples are only interested in a venue on the water Boca Raton offers several nice locations that are more inland. However, one visit to Boca Pointe and it's becomes clear that this is a fantastic choice if you are looking to keep your wedding in Boca Raton.
