One of my favorite bridal portraits was photographed at the beautiful W Miami Hotel in the heart of Brickell. Known for its contemporary architecture, dramatic interiors, and spectacular skyline views, the W Miami offers countless opportunities to create elegant and artistic wedding photographs.
While photographing Erika's bridal session, I was constantly looking for interesting backgrounds that would complement her wedding gown without distracting from her. As we explored the hotel, I noticed the striking geometric pattern of the marble floor. Rather than simply photographing Erika standing on it, I envisioned creating a portrait that showcased both the unique design of the hotel and her elegant pose.
From years of photographing weddings and portraits, I've learned that many brides look especially flattering when photographed from a slightly higher camera angle. By asking Erika to crouch down gracefully while I photographed her from above, I was able to emphasize the beautiful lines of her dress while allowing the dramatic floor pattern to become an important part of the composition. The result is a bridal portrait that highlights both the architecture of the W Miami and the beauty of the bride.
