I had the pleasure of shooting this beautiful couple on the croquet course at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach FL The Breakers is by far one of the most prestigious venues in all south Florida. Since the venue is so big finding beautiful places to shoot pictures is super easy. Whenever I’m shooting a bridal couple I always make it a point to determine the location of the sun. Then I decide if I’m going to use the sun as a face light or if I’m going to back light the couple. In this case I decided backlighting would be best and the Breakers croquet course was the perfect place.
Over the years I have been lucky enough to photograph many weddings and corporate events at the Breakers. The Breakers was opened in 1896 by American industrialist Henry Flagler. It was originally called The Palm Beach Inn. Later it was renamed The Breakers after many of its guests began referring to the property as "The Breakers". During the history of the hotel 2 fires have occurred, one in 1903 and another in 1925 after each fire the property was rebuilt to become more elaborate. The Breakers reopened on December 29, 1926. Modeled after the Villa Mediciin Rome, the new hotel was built by Turner Construction Company and local contractor Eugene Hammond. The lobby ceiling was painted by Alexander Bonanno. In 1973 The Breakers was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today the resort occupies 140 acres next to the Atlantic Ocean. It offers 538 rooms withunapologetic luxury. It has been rated a 5-diamond resort by AAA since 1996. With multiple ballrooms, meeting spaces, and courtyards, The Breakers is a stunning place to plan any event. The property includes many restaurants both indoor and outdoor that offer both private and semi private dining experiences. The Breakers boasts on using ecologically friendly practices, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and water conservation. It is also a Green Power partner of the US Environmental Protection Agency.
